Blog 1: Introduction

Hello everyone! My name is Katy. I am an Elementary Education major with a minor in Technology and a minor in State and World Connections, which is basically Social Studies.

I plan on student teaching next Spring semester, which is the Spring semester of 2014, and I am really excited. I will then graduate after student teaching in May of 2014, which I am also looking forward to.

My future teaching goals would be to teach 2nd or 3rd graders in a suburban town. A long term teaching goal I have is to get my Masters and hopefully end up in North or South Carolina.

I think that technology is an important part of teaching and learning because if it is used the correct way it can be engaging and acquire higher levels of learning. Technology is also advancing rapidly in today's society, and I think that technology can play an important role in childrens' academic development.

I am enrolled in this course because it is part of my Technology concentration and licensure.

Three personal learning goals that I have for this class are:
          1. Learn what the technology policies are for PK-12 classrooms
          2. Learn how the federal and state government, along with the school community, play a role in the technology policies
          3. Expanded my knowledge on technology integration and how I can become a better educator by incorporating technology policies in my classroom
